Sur ce in French

“Sur ce” is an expression used after a conversation to show you want to do something else.

We can translate it: with this, saying that, so saying…

At the end of an evening with some friends, it is time for you to go, you can say:
Bon, sur ce, je vais y aller, alors au revoir!
Well, on that note, I must leave, so, good-bye!

After a conversation and to take advantage of the situation:
Sur ce, il proposa un toast en son honneur!
Saying that, he drank a toast to her! At the end of a phone call:
Sur ce, je te laisse
Saying that, I am off!

But mainly, it is used to say goodbye!

(Of course nothing to do with “sur ce bureau”: on this desk)
