Vacances is always plural (vacance means vacancy) and is always used for a period of time longer than a few days, one week, two weeks, one month, that's why a bank holiday is not "vacances" in French. When you speak about your next holiday, you can use the present tense or the future tense in French. To several people, you can say: Passez de bonnes vacances (passer means to spend).
